Wine for your events, from one city to the next: a supplier that keeps up

An agency organises a launch in Paris in March, a corporate retreat in Biarritz in May, an annual party in Lyon in December. Each time, the wine is an item to price, to deliver to a venue you don't know, to invoice to the right name. Here is how a Bordeaux wine merchant handles it for you, with no exclusivity.

What you get

1

Quantities, worked out together

Guests, moments, share of drinkers: the calculator gives the figure per colour, and we adjust it on the phone according to the event format. A tight margin, because nothing is taken back.

2

A selection by budget

Three levels, from reception Bordeaux to classified growths, plus champagne. The same wines from one event to the next if your client wants continuity, or a new selection each time.

3

Delivery to the venue

To the event site, in parcels or on a pallet, with someone from your team there to receive it. Lead times and costs are on the delivery page; we deliver in mainland France, and to nearby countries on request.

4

The invoice in the right name

To the agency, which re-invoices, or directly to the end client with your agreed margin handled separately. Payment before shipping, one invoice per event, an annual summary if you ask for it.

Three typical events

Orders of magnitude for classic agency events, with 80% drinkers and an 8 to 10% margin. The calculator gives the detail per colour and the budget at three levels.

What we don't do, to be clear

No exclusivity asked: you work with whoever you like in other regions. No taking back of unopened cases, which explains the tight margins and the care put into the calculation. No service on site and no glass hire; your caterers are better placed for that, and we're happy to work with them, see the wine for caterers page. And Bordeaux first: outside Bordeaux and champagne, the selection is short; if your client wants a wine we don't have, we say so straight away.

For the weddings your agency organises, the logic is the same as for wedding planners: tasting for the couple, quantities worked out, quote within 48 hours, net prices or a referral fee depending on how you invoice.

How it works

You send the brief: date, venue, guests, format, budget per head, who to invoice. Transvins, Bordeaux wine merchant (négociant) since 1986, replies within 48 working hours with the wines named, the vintages, prices excl. and incl. VAT per bottle and per case, and delivery costs. You approve, we deliver on the agreed date. The next event picks up from the same email thread.

Send a first brief

Reply within 48 working hours. No commitment, no exclusivity.

Can you deliver to an event venue rather than to the agency?

Yes, it's the most common case. We need an exact address, a time slot when someone from your team is there, and access for a lorry if it's a pallet. Some venues refuse deliveries the day before: check with them before fixing the date.

Do you invoice the agency or the end client?

Your choice, event by event. Invoicing the agency lets you apply your margin; invoicing the end client with an agreed referral fee saves you carrying the cash. Both arrangements exist among our partners, sometimes for the same agency depending on the client.

What is the minimum lead time for an event?

Three weeks for an order of wines in stock, delivered in parcels. Six weeks if the client wants to taste first. Under ten days is possible for wines that are available, with express delivery charged at actual cost; in December and June, allow more.

Do you offer tastings for your clients?

Samples for the agency or the client, yes, of the wines being considered; a tasting in Bordeaux for a big event, too. No hosted tastings at your events: it's not our trade, and your suppliers do it better.
