Transvins, wine merchant in Bordeaux since 1986
This site is run by Transvins, a Bordeaux wine merchant (négociant) managed by Stéphane Gattegno. The calculators are free and give their result without asking for anything; when you ask for a quote, it is Transvins that replies, with named wines and prices.
What a wine merchant does
A négociant buys wine from châteaux and estates, keeps it in stock and sells it on to private buyers, companies and the trade. Transvins has done this in Bordeaux since 1986: mostly Bordeaux, champagne and a selection from other regions (Burgundy, Rhône, Loire, a few wines from abroad), with classified growths and older vintages on the price list.
The difference from a wine shop or a supermarket comes down to volume and stock: wholesale prices from a few cases, vintages you no longer find on the shelves, and a single invoice for a hundred bottles. The point-by-point comparison is on the wine merchant, wine shop, supermarket or producer page.

Where the site's figures come from
The calculators run in your browser. Every assumption (glasses per bottle, consumption per moment of the day, share of guests who drink, safety margin) is written on the page and can be changed: you can redo the calculation with your own figures. The main calculator starts from there.
The prices shown on the wine pages come from the Transvins price list, VAT included; the date of the price list is shown. The price that counts is the one in the quote. The full list is on the wines on the price list page.
What we don't do
- Below about twenty bottles, the calculator will tell you that you don't need us: a local wine shop will do the job very well.
- Unopened cases are not taken back. The calculators' safety margin allows for this.
- We don't buy cellars or old bottles, and we don't install wine cellars.

Does Transvins sell to private individuals?
Yes. Private individuals, companies, associations and the trade all ask for a quote through the same form. Wholesale prices apply from a few cases.
What wines does Transvins offer?
Mostly Bordeaux, from small châteaux to classified growths and older vintages, champagne and a selection from other regions: Burgundy, Rhône, Loire and a few wines from abroad. Crémant can be requested in the quote.
How long does it take to get a quote?
Within 48 working hours, no commitment. The quote names the wines, gives the price per case and prices the delivery.
