The Bordeaux Supérieur wines on offer
From everyday red to more carefully crafted cuvées. Filter by budget or by “ready to drink”. Nothing is sent until you click on the quote.
Two levels
The table tells you the price; here is how to read the names.
The cuvées
La Galante cuvée Grand Vin, Thieuley and Paulin cuvée prestige: an estate's selection, more time in barrel, for the seated meal.
The simple reds
Instant Bécot, Lalande de Taleyran, La Garousse: fruity, ready young, for the drinks reception and the evening party.
What makes a Bordeaux Supérieur
The same area as the Bordeaux appellation, with stricter rules: lower yields and a higher minimum alcohol level. Mostly red, where Merlot dominates. It is the red for drinking, not for debating: straightforward, fruity, faultless.
It is also the wine for large quantities. At a hundred guests, the count is done in cases: how many bottles for 100 guests, or the calculator for another number.
What to serve it with
- At a barbecue, served cool at 14 °C (what wine with a barbecue).
- At a buffet or banquet: poultry, cold meats (what wine with poultry).
Which Bordeaux Supérieur for which occasion
For a drinks reception or an evening party, a simple, ready-to-drink red (drinks reception). For the seated meal, a cuvée. For the budget per head, see wine budget per person; to buy in volume, buying wine in bulk.
Bordeaux or Bordeaux Supérieur?
Same region, same grapes. Bordeaux Supérieur requires lower yields and a higher minimum alcohol level: generally a more concentrated wine, for a few euros more.
Bottle, magnum or bag-in-box?
For a big table, the magnum makes an impression and is quicker to serve; bag-in-box costs less but shows. The comparison tool does the sums.
How long should you keep a Bordeaux Supérieur?
One to five years for a simple red, three to ten for a cuvée. The table applies these rules to each line; it is not a tasting note.
Are the prices shown the ones in the quote?
They are the guide prices from the price list, incl. VAT, per bottle of the format, delivery excluded. The quote confirms the price, the availability of each vintage and the shipping; the delivery rates give the lead times. For a Bordeaux Supérieur or a vintage not in the table, the quote request is still open.
