Independent sommelier · wine consultant · cellar advice
Independent sommeliers and wine consultants: one supplier for all your clients
A cellar to fill for a private client, a restaurant's wine list, a company's gifts, a dinner for fifty: the consultant chooses, and needs a supplier who keeps up, with named wines, the right vintages and a clear quote. List your clients' current requests; they go out in a single request, each under its code name.
Your clients' requests
Nothing is sent until you click on the quote. Use a code name, not the client's name: Transvins replies to the consultant.
What a consultant expects from a supplier
- Named wines, not price ranges. Château, appellation, vintage, price excl. and incl. VAT, on a quote within 48 working hours that you can present to your client.
- Bordeaux in depth, from crus bourgeois to first growths, second wines, old vintages; champagne and a selection from other regions. The catalogue is on all our wines, as a list.
- Checked vintages: the birth-year vintage tool says what a year is still worth, before you mention it to the client.
- Delivery to the client, at the address and on the date you give; the delivery scale gives the order of magnitude.
Depending on the client
For a private cellar, the tools having a large cellar stocked and building a wine cellar do the split by ageing and budget. For a restaurant, the wine list and the by-the-glass mark-up. For a company's gifts, end-of-year client gifts. For an event, the bottle calculator.
Is there a trade price or a commission for consultants?
That is discussed with Transvins, depending on volume and how you invoice. Ask the question in the request; the answer comes with the quote.
Can the client pay directly?
Yes, if you choose: the quote and invoice are then in the client's name, and you invoice your advice separately. If you buy to resell, check that your status allows it: reselling wine in France requires a take-away licence (licence à emporter).
Can you get a sample before proposing a wine?
Ask in your message, specifying the wine and the volume at stake. The answer depends on the wine: for a great growth or an old vintage, a bottle opened for tasting costs the price of a bottle.
Do you need to give the client's name in the request?
No: a code name is enough for the quote. Their contact details are only needed if the invoice or delivery is in their name.
