What you get
Transvins has been a Bordeaux wine merchant (négociant) since 1986, based at 19 rue Édouard Faure in Bordeaux. A wine shop buys from a wine merchant for the same reason a restaurant does: breadth of range in Bordeaux, physical stock, and someone who answers the phone. Here is what we bring to a wine shop.
- Classified growths in stock, in several vintages, for the shelf that brings customers in and for end-of-year orders.

For everyday lines, a trial bottle before the first order. For classified growths, the vintage speaks for itself.
Delivery to the shop
By parcel up to 120 bottles, by pallet beyond. Payment before dispatch for a first order, terms to be discussed after that. A shop outside France: the page importers and wine shops abroad covers mixed pallets, excise duty and export.
The terms, no surprises
No hidden minimum. One case of six is enough for a top-up line; prices become worthwhile from a few cases per order. No exclusivity required, neither on an appellation nor on an area. You keep your other suppliers and your direct producers.
Allocations are discussed. On sought-after vintages, quantities are limited and shared among regular customers. A wine shop that orders all year round comes before one that calls in December. We say so up front, not afterwards.
What we don't do: a full range outside Bordeaux. We have a short selection from Burgundy (such as Domaine Trapet), the Rhône (Guigal's Côte-Rôtie) and the Loire, mostly big names, and champagne; a wine shop needs far more from those regions. We are a shop's Bordeaux supplier, not its only supplier. The page wine merchant, wine shop, supermarket or producer compares the channels plainly, including where we lose.
For wine shops that also do events
Many wine shops supply weddings and corporate receptions. Our quantity calculators and occasion pages are free to use: send them to your customers or use them to price a job. The same terms as for restaurants apply, with one difference: unopened cases are not taken back, by you or by us, and it is best to tell the customer beforehand.

Can a wine shop really buy from a wine merchant?
Yes, it is actually the classic channel in Bordeaux: châteaux sell to wine merchants through brokers, and wine merchants sell to wine shops, restaurants and export. Buying direct from the château is possible for a few estates, but most classified growths go through the Bordeaux trade (the Place de Bordeaux).
What is the minimum order?
One case of six per line. In practice, an order of a few cases makes shipping reasonable; below that, transport weighs too heavily on the price per bottle and we will tell you so.
Do you offer wines from other regions?
Yes, a short selection: Burgundy, Rhône, Loire, champagne and a few foreign wines, mostly big names and old vintages. Not a full range: for your everyday wines outside Bordeaux, keep your suppliers. We are one of them, not the only one.
Are old vintages guaranteed?
The provenance is known and the bottles are stored with us at a constant temperature. For a forty-year-old wine, nobody guarantees what is in the bottle; we tell you what we know about the year, the fill level and the label, and you decide.
